It could not happen to a better actor [the least to a chance] to star in two films in a festival.  Well, sometimes it does and that sometime is this year’s CINEMALAYA Independent Film Festival where PAULO AVELINO is expected to generate excitement and anticipation as he topbills in Tarrog’s ‘SANA DATI’ and Yapan’s ‘DEBOSYON’.  Whispering waves echoing through the industry has it that he stands another great chance of winning an award for either… or both!  Undoubtedly, Avelino’s depth and expository thespian range is a hard nut to crack while lavishing on the boyish masculine charm it comes from.  This early? Yes, this early… CONGRATULATIONS PAULO! Luv Yah! Luv Yah? Yes, close kami noh???

Sa bagong panahon ng cinema, sinasabing mas exciting panoorin ang mga kalalakihang umarte. As in. Static lang kasi ang acting style ng female actors dahil ang range nila ay nakasalalay sa typical feminine walls na soft at fragile. Sa male actors kasi, mas nakamamangha ang lapad ng mahihitang acting horizon dahil kinakaya nilang mag-ultra soft hanggang sa extreme opposite nito.

For the eighth year around, the UP CINEASTES’ STUDIO brings the hottest films of the Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival to the University of the Philippines Diliman. This year, we are also including 2 films from the 1st Sineng Pambansa.

CINEMALAYA 2012 FEED : Aloy Adlawan’s ‘ANG KATIWALA’

ANG KATIWALA, a full-length entry to the Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival 2012 New Breed Section, July 20-29. Starring  : DENNIS TRILLO , RONNIE LAZARO, ANGELINA CANAPI, ALTHEA VEGA, MIGGS CUADERNO, NERI NAIG, ERNIE ZARATE, SHYR VALDEZ, RICHARD MANABAT, LOUELLA DE CORDOVA, AILEEN LOTA, DADO JOSE

Plot : RUBEN loses his job as a carpenter in a small town in Zambales where he lives with his wife EDNA and their 10-year old son, BUDOY. Desperate to make ends meet, he accepts a job as a caretaker of an abandoned property in Quezon City. Ruben soon finds out that the previous owner of the house is an important figure in the country’s history. When he is interviewed by a TV reporter about this historical figure, Ruben feels embarrassed that he knows nothing about him.
