RUFFA MAE QUINTO , best known for her worthless and excruciatingly ‘boob-sy’ film outings may just be back with a vengeance in her latest starrer ‘ANG HULING HENYA’. Take note that this is directed by Marlon Rivera, THE Marlon Rivera who gave stench a better actress in Eugene Domingo as the septic tank woman. Rivera’s humor is stupefying as it is fresh ; so expect a better Ruffa Mae, or this would rather have the title : ‘ANG HULING FILM NI RUFFA MAE’ . Beat the plot : Miri is trapped in her past and this time her whole past comes crashing back into her life: old dead secrets, her dead parents, and even the walking dead. Miri’s return to Manila only brings her back to more trouble – the personal kind. Even as a young girl, Miri believed she is responsible for her parents death and the guilt kept her from building healthy relationships with those around her specially with her younger brother Mark. Miri Alvarez, is one of the best agents of an international group organized to protect scientists and inventors from a tech-grabbing group called The Agency. But Miri is hot headed and refuses to follow orders. In one rescue operation, Miri’s refusal to follow protocol gets her long-time partner killed. Miri is suspended and sent back to Manila. Hmmm, sounds like a pirated and anemic take on several scifi pics we all love to miss watching but perhaps watching this action-comedy-horror adventure might just be the best solace for the poorer among us to skip three meals and laugh away our cares!
ANG HULING HENYA also stars Fabio Ide, Ayen Laurel, Robert Seña, Jovic Monsod,Kean Cipriano, Valerie Weigmann, Ricci Chan , Edgar Allan Guzman among other living actors.

Yes, ‘sasambulat’ dahil medyo unexpected masyado ang team up nina COCO MARTIN at ANGELINE QUINTO. Masaya naman ang world dahil ang isang upstart ay nabibiyayaan ng ganitong break early on her career as a Regine Velasquez clone after winning some forgettable tv singing contest. Medyo unexpected din dahil ang hirap ‘intindihin’ ang hilatsada ng kanyang face at di mo kaagad mamemorize dahil hindi siya ang typical na gandang karaniwang nagiging ‘star’. Let’s face it, Angeline’s face is so stiff and needs a lot of facescaping para ma-soften ang edges para sumakto siya sa frame. Of course, kikita ang pelikulang ito with all its pretentious kwakwas (typical of StarCinema movies) dahil si COCO MARTIN ang lead actor. Coco who is so sikat and has a great following. If ever … ‘if’ na ‘ever’ pa – na magflopchynnaortalez ang sineng itey ; it will only mean one thing : ibalik sa drawing board ang konseptong ‘Angeline Quinto’. Sa destiny lines kasi niya ang daming dapat baguhin , her face, her speaking voice, her enunciation, her conduct, her body and most especially her psychological switchboard. Masculine kasi masyado ang dating ni Angeline sa tatlong anggulo niya ; the last one is just a heartbeat of femininity. Kaya ganun. Directed by Jerome Pobocan who must have been enormously challenged doing this opus. Choz.
Perhaps following the intriguing streak of infidelity as a fine premise for a hit movie, VIVA FILMS & STAR CINEMA saddled to come up with a film of such ‘pagtataksil’ genre. This time its a battle of two hot , fine actresses ANNE CURTIS and CRISTINE REYES battling for DEREK RAMSAY‘s mojos and more. Expect crisp, sharp and almost sparkling exchange of contrived anger to win who to who’s side! Directed by Ruel Santos Bayani , NO OTHER WOMAN is showing this September 28!
CRISPINA BELEN writes : Archbishop Leonardo Z. Legaspi of the Diocese of Caceres described “Ikaw ang Pag-ibig” as an excellent movie for the whole family, not only because he is its executive producer, but also because the movie is really excellent in its story, execution and in the performance of the cast, and because it was directed by no less than the acclaimed Marilou Diaz Abaya (“Rizal,” “Sa Pusod ng Dagat”).
