The week started on a sad note. Premium veteran actor MARK GIL went back home to his creator on Monday. I personally knew Mark or Ralph as we called him on the set of ALAPAAP [circa 1985]. Tata Esteban’s first directorial outing was shot in its entirety in Baguio City so we were all oh so together for almost a week doing eerie scenes here and there . Michael, his brother and Tita Rose [Rosemarie Gil] were also cast in the horror major film which starred Tanya Gomez [who later had a son with Esteban]. Ralph is such a joy to be with. It was never a wonder why whenever he was he brightened the mood with his winks and subtle remarks on just about anything. Having been borne in the business, he seriously took his craft to heights now very uncommon to upstarts. Often under rated , he seemed not to bother to dwell on what the rest of his world was up to as long as he satisfied what he believed was aptly perfect for the characters he portrayed. MARK GIL is such a huge name in this business that his exit will be badly missed but thinking that he has sought to journey back to his sweet Creator… then we can only bid him warm bon voyage…
