REPERTORY PHILIPPINES’ “BOEING BOEING” @ Greenbelt 1

pizap.com13578031905091The age when leggy, high-flying stewardesses were the ultimate fantasy for men is back in vogue with the new Repertory Philippines production of the 1960s-set sex comedy “ Boeing Boeing ”, opening January 25, 2013 at Onstage, Greenbelt 1, Makati City.

Winner of the 2008 Tony Award and Drama Desk Award for Best Revival of a Play, BOEING BOEING (by Marc Camoletti and translated by Beverley Cross and Francis Evans) will be directed by Miguel Faustmann.

Doors are vital to BOEING BOEING. The play is about the tale of Bernard, an American playboy in swinging ’60s Paris who carefully divides his lust based on airline timetables, juggling those three flight-attendant fiancées with the reluctant assistance of his housekeeper. When an old friend, arrives, Bernard’s precise romantic schedule begins to fall apart — a fast new Boeing jet puts the flight attendants on a collision course, hurtles Bernard’s cunning deception towards disaster, and provides lift-off for laugh after laugh. And, in the tradition of farce, doors start opening, closing and slamming. So what happens when one doesn’t open properly?

BOEING BOEING shall bring on board three ladies of the flight like fantasy drawings from a vintage Esquire or Playboy for a portfolio of international dream girls. Imagine them as they play their caricaturish stereotypes with sexy over-the-top snap, crackle and pop — GIANNINA OCAMPO as the Sophia Loren-ish Italian Gabriella, CARLA DUNAREANU as the über German Gretchen and JEN BIANCO as the American Gloria.

The men of BOEING BOEING features David Bianco as Bernard, the erotically athletic architect playboy who juggles three fiancées. Topper Fabregas plays the role of Robert, Bernard’s boyhood friend, newly arrived from Wisconsin. Rounding off the cast is stage veteran and award-winning actress Baby Barredo as Bertha, the housekeeper, with Joy Virata as alternate.

Co-presented by the City of Makati, BOEING BOEING is one of the funniest and sexiest evenings you will spend in a theatre.
