The Screenwriters Guild of the Philippines will hold a workshop on Film Criticism at the Film Academy of the Philippines office on the ground floor of OctoArts Building, Panay avenue, Q.C. on September 4 and 5.

Planned as the first in a series of workshops to be held in different places, the SGP workshop will be conducted by Professor John Iremil I. Teodoro of Merriam College, who will teach the techniques in writing a film review, critiquing films and writing blogs about Filipino films.

The workshop is free of charge. Participants will be limited to 25 and will be on a first-come-first-served basis. Interested people please call Julie at 415-3880 for reservation.

SGP President Isabel Sebullen said that SGP members must be aware of modern film criticism since they serve as citers, nominators or voters in the yearly Luna Awards of the FAP.

The workshop will start daily at 3:30 PM and end at 7:00 PM. The schedule will allow students with morning classes to attend the workshop as well as those who are working.

Schedule for the two-day seminar is as follows:

First day, September 4 (Monday)
3:30 -4:00 PM – Registration
4:00-4:15 PM – Opening Prayer, National Anthem and Welcome Remarks.
4:16- 5:00 – Lecture Proper
5:00-5:20 – Coffee Break
5:21- 6:45 – Film Viewing
6:46- 7:00 – Wrap-Up and Giving of Assignment

Second day, September 5 (Tuesday)
3:30 -4:00 PM – Registration
4:00-4:15 PM – Opening Prayer, Singing of National Anthem
4:16-5:00 – Film Review Workshop
5:00 -5:15 – Coffee Break
5:16-6:45 – Film Review Workshop
6:45- 7:00 PM – Giving of Certificates
7:00 – Adjournment
