This is the unedited text message farmed out by the ABS-CBN Corporate Communications last Monday to drum up interest for Lorna Tolentino and Chin Chin Gutierrez’s confrontation scene to its publicists (STIR not included).
“Naku, eto po ang update sa dahil may isang ikaw. Kung mapapanood n’yo ang teaser today, mamayang gabi o Lunes ng umaga, magaganap ang bonggang-bonggang confrontation scene ni Lorna at Chin Chin. Ending in sampalan and sabunutan. Dahil nadala ang dalawa sa eksena, nagkasakitan ang dalawa. In fact nagasgasan daw slight si Lorna. Pero all in the name of paggawa ng eksena. Bukas naman isang very romantic na wedding scene ang kukunan. Ikakasal na si Echo at Tin! Parang patapos na nakakaloka talaga ang primera klaseng teleseryeng ito.”
This gave the real incident a strong tone of being a reel scene, making perceptive readers think it was a publicity gimmick.
Did it succeed? In AGB’s report, Monday’s broadcast failed to increase ratings materially at 27.3%! It looks like the following day’s airing benefitted at 29.3% in AGB but it went down to 25.8% in TNS. It’s a miserable flop! We’ll see today its effect on the third day.
Since Tuesday, ABS-CBN has not been farming out its National report based on TNS report.
